CKRS CLUBS
We are very pleased to offer a variety of clubs that students can participate during their lunch/recess time and after school:
Scrabble and Debate Clubs will resume after the field hockey season.
Start working on building up your vocabulary, it is a useful tool for both clubs.

Clay Club: This is an after-school club that runs one day a week for 3 consecutive weeks and is offered each month by our Art Teacher, Mrs. Palacki. You are able to choose one of two days Monday or Tuesday. There is a limited number of students allowed in each class, so advance registration is required. There is nominal fee for supplies. This club is open for students Kindergarten through 8th grade.

"Crazy Hat" Book Club: This club meets once a month during the lunch/recess period in Mrs. O'Brien's classroom. Jr. High students, 6th-8th, are welcome to join this club and read the current book and join in a discussion.
Debate Club: This club meets every other Tuesday from 2:45pm to 4pm in Mrs. O'Brien's classroom. This club is for 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students.
1/20/09: Topic - "Students are forced to cheat because of the pressure to succeed. Please decide on a pro or con stance on this issue."
2/17/09: Topic - "Uniforms - does wearing them make for a better academic athmosphere? The Deptford Public School system is currently considering making the wearing of uniforms mandatory. What do you think?"
3/02/09: Topic - "Should banks who received federal bailout money pay their senior or top producing executives bonuses? Before you make a decision on whether you are pro or con, please look carefully at both sides of the issues and be prepared to argue your side with facts and information pertinent to the topic."
4/07/09: Topic "Please write down notes on be prepared to tell one actual story that happened to you and one fictitious story that you create. We will debate which is the true story. Please remember content should be appropriate and grammar skills and good vocabulary will make your story believable."
National Junior Art Society: Open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Students interested can join the Junior Art Society Club and attend meetings organized by our Art teacher, Mrs. Palacki. Students will participate in groups and work on assigned projects and also participate in various art exhibitions in our area.

Math Club: The Math Club is offered by our Math Teacher, Mrs. Dunn. Open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students - Peer tutoring, brain teasers, and math games. This club meets after school in Mrs. Dunn's classroom from 2:45-3:30pm. Dates will be published in the PTA newsletter and posted on the website School Calendar.
Scrabble Club: This club meets every other Tuesday from 2:45pm to 4pm in Mrs. O'Briens classroom. This club is for Jr. High students 5-8th grade.
