World Language

World Languages, specifically Spanish, are part of the curriculum for all grade levels, kindergarten through eighth grade. Our program is based upon age and developmentally appropriate activities meant to stimulate the student’s interest in and skills of another language other than English.

Students are actively engaged in the language through total physical response learning, song and interaction with each other and the teacher. Our program contains content that is interesting and appropriate for students of all grade levels.  Culture is an important part of any spoken language and our students study the customs, history, geography and art of Latina cultures.

In seventh grade, the curriculum is more advanced with a greater frequency of classes. The curriculum was developed to prepare students for Spanish in area high schools. Upon completion, together with the passing of an entrance exam and teacher recommendation, students may have the opportunity to advance into an honors language program.
