                                  CAP TRAINING/FINGERPRINTING
                                           for CKRS VOLUNTEERS

All school volunteers such as room parents, lunch aides, playground monitors, coaches, etc. who have regular contact with students are required to have a criminal background check and attend one Child Assault Prevention Training (CAP) Class.  Regular contact means on going contact with minors.  There is no "time" definition such as 30 minutes a week.  Regular contact is not a once a year event, like chaperoning a field trip or attending a class party.  Regular contact is not volunteering for two events.  If an individual plans to volunteer for more than three events, a criminal background check needs to be acquired.

To fulfill the criminal background check, volunteers must have fingerprints taken.  A new fingerprinting policy was implemented last school year.  The new fingerprinting process no longer allows you to go to your local township police station and have fingerprints taken.   Please contact the school office for the new fingerprinting instructions.

If you attended a CAP session and had fingerprints taken last year, you do not need to do so again this year.  Every 5 years, school volunteers need to re-attend a CAP Training class.

The following CAP sessions will be offered in November:

Monday, Nov.1, 7:30pm, Holy Family, Sewell, Acquin Building

Thursday, Nov. 13, 7pm, St. Francis of Assisi, Vineland, Church

Monday, Nov. 17, 7pm, Incarnation, Mantua, Parish Hall

Tuesday, Nov. 25, 7pm, Queen of Apostle, Pennsvile, Parish Hall

The following CAP sessions will be offered in December:

Tuesday, Dec. 2, 7pm, Our Lady of the Lakes, Collings Lakes, Parish Hall

Tuesday, Dec. 2, 7pm, St. Charles Borromeo, Sicklerville, Church Basement

Thursday, Dec. 4, 7pm, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Vineland, Pope John Paul Retreat Center

Wednesday, Dec. 10, 7pm, St. Mary, Williamstown, School

Sunday, Dec. 14, 7pm, St. Joseph School, Somers Point, Gym

To attend one of these classes, please call the CAP registration line in the Office of Safe Environment for Children, Youth and Adults at (856)583-6165 or email ddiggons@camdendiocese.org to register.  Register at least five days before the session you would like to attend.
