Religion, and the study of it, is an essential component of academic study at Christ the King School. It is our task to present Christian values and morals that are the foundation of our Catholic faith.
The religion program at Christ the King Regional School follows the diocesan Religion Curriculum Guidelines that are quite extensive. These guidelines, in conjunction with a textbook, provide teaching strategies that extend beyond the classroom into the family and community.
Students study the people, places, events and teachings that are at the very heart of the Catholic faith. The goal is to have these teachings translate into a lived reality. For every grade level the methods of instruction include scripture study, storytelling, dramatization, role playing, group discussions, and art and research projects. Seasonal religious activities include class and school liturgies, prayer services for various holy days, feast days and holidays (e.g., Feast of St Francis, Feast of St Nicholas, etc), Christmas pageants with a Nativity Tableaux, Lenten Stations of the Cross, Living Stations and May Crowning. In conjunction with their other studies, special sacramental instruction is for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation are given in the appropriate grade level.
