Stephanie S. of Voorhees is the winner of The Sun's search for a mural artist. She is a seventh-grade student at Christ the King Regional School in Haddonfield.
"We want to thank the dozens of young people who submitted mural ideas," Sun General Manager Alan Bauer said, "We had a number of people offer their views of the entries, all of which were outstanding. It was a really difficult task to pick a winner from so many quality submissions."
The Sun recently asked young people to submit mural ideas for a wall in the newspaper's new Haddonfield office. The newspaper will pay for all of the supplies, and Stephanie will receive a $100 prize.
The actual painting of the mural probably will begin in mid-April. The Sun will publish stories and photos of the project. When it's finished, a plaque with Stephanie's name on it will be hung next to the mural.
Stephanie, 13, has been taking art lessons for more than five years. Stephanie is experienced in a number of different mediums, such as pencil, colored pencil, pastel, pen and ink, charcoal and water color.
